Spoonfuls welcomes Martha Buckley as their new Director of Corporate and Foundation Relations in Newton, Massachusetts. Martha brings an impressive combination of corporate and nonprofit experience to this critical leadership role.
Most recently, she served as a Director of Investor Development at Sunwealth, an impact investing firm where she managed a portfolio of foundations, Registered Investment Advisors, intermediaries, high-net-worth individuals, and philanthropic asset providers. Her leadership contributed to Sunwealth’s remarkable most recent $60 million capital raise, funding community-based solar projects that promote environmental justice. As a member of Sunwealth’s senior leadership team, Martha was instrumental in aligning capital strategies with corporate objectives while spearheading strategic planning initiatives.
Before her role at Sunwealth, she demonstrated her commitment to nonprofit development as Director of Development at Heading Home, a Boston-based organization combating homelessness and a community partner of Spoonfuls. There, she secured nearly $1 million in philanthropic revenue annually and established innovative corporate engagement and volunteering programs, significantly expanding the organization’s funding pipeline. Additionally, her corporate experience includes impactful roles at Wayfair, where she helped evaluate impact investing opportunities for affordable housing as part of the company’s corporate social responsibility strategy, and Staples, where she led Community & Giving programs to advance social responsibility.
As Director of Corporate & Foundation Relations, Martha will drive growth and strengthen partnerships with corporate and foundation donors. She will oversee a robust portfolio of funders, cultivate new partnerships, and develop strategies to expand corporate giving. Leveraging her expertise in crafting corporate social responsibility initiatives, Martha will serve as a strategic thought partner to the Chief Advancement Officer and a key member of Spoonfuls’ leadership team. align corporate giving with Spoonfuls’ mission while leading efforts to build an innovative corporate giving program with the goal of $500,000 in institutional giving in her first year. She looks forward to working with and managing the Senior Grants Manager and collaborating with the Development team to elevate Spoonfuls’ mission and increase philanthropic revenue from five million to ten million over the next five years.
Martha’s academic background further strengthens her ability to navigate complex challenges with strategic insight. She holds an MBA from Babson College, where she was recognized as a Presidential Scholar and a leader in social innovation, and a bachelor’s degree in organizational communication from Miami University. Martha is excited to marry her expertise in corporate objectives with social impact goals with her passion for sustainability and supporting the Commonwealth through addressing food insecurity and combating climate change.
